A2S℠ Soulful Supper

The Soulful Supper is our annual benefit dinner to support A2S programming. A2S is an international, education nonprofit that provides sustainable programs that generate positive change for Nigerian children and their community. The evening included hands-on experiences to share about A2S programs, in Nigeria – including our Basketball & Empowerment Camp, the Entrepreneur Incubator and the After School Academy, as well as music and silent and live auctions.

Chef Joe Kindred: Kindred Restaurant (Davidson, N.C.)

Joe Kindred is the head chef of critically-acclaimed Kindred Restaurant on Davidson’s Main Street. With his wife Katy, he has taken his travels and experience in fine dining to create his own unique perspective on contemporary cuisine of the new South. Kindred Restaurant was ranked fourth on Southern Living’s list of the south’s top ten restaurants, and ranked the best restaurant in North Carolina.

Chef Justin Burke-Samson: Hello, Sailor (Cornelius, N.C.)

Justin Burke-Samson is the self-taught pastry chef for both Kindred Restaurant and Hello, Sailor. Burke-Samson is known for his unique, sophisticated adaptations of traditional southern comfort desserts. Prior to taking his current role, Justin made a name for himself through his baking pop-up series, Party of Two, with fellow pastry chef Stephanie Cmar. He also founded a themed traveling baking pop-up series called Modern Gramma and competed with Food Network star Bobby Flay on the television cooking show, Beat Bobby Flay.

Chef Zack Renner & Bo Buxton: Rooster’s (Charlotte, N.C.)

Zack Renner has been with the Noble Food & Pursuits group since 2007, working out of all locations and positions from line cook to head chef. He now works as the executive chef of Rooster’s Uptown. Bo Buxton served as the general manager of Rooster’s in Uptown Charlotte for five years and is now director of operations. Rooster’s offers a chef-driven, seasonally-inspired menu featuring ingredients from local farmers. Rooster’s menu is crafted from scratch, using European and modern techniques. In 2013, Rooster’s Uptown was awarded Charlotte’s Best of the Best recognition for ‘Best Second Location’ by Charlotte Magazine.


Chef Troy Gagliardo

Troy Gagliardo is a self-taught chef, author and television personality. Chef Gagliardo’s TV appearances include national commercials with NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr and the premiere episode of season four of award-winning PBS show “A Chef’s Life” with Chef Vivian Howard. He has been the weekly host of “Troy’s Everyday Eats” on WCCB Charlotte/ CW morning show News Rising since 2006. During his time on the show, Chef Gagliardo has prepared over one thousand original recipes live on-air. Gagliardo wrote a cookbook in 2015, entitled “Pseudo Southern- a playful twist on the art of southern cooking.” His other culinary ventures include a proprietary spice line, commercials, food styling, cooking/ restaurant columns, endorsements, artisan bacon products and cooking classes.
