My name is Kelvin John and I am 13 years old. The name of my school is Ohuoba Primary School. I am the oldest child and I have three younger siblings. My dad is a soldier and my mum a trader. They provide for me when it they can, but try to reassure me when they cannot.

I started at the Access to Success After School Academy (ASA) sometime last year and it has really affected me positively by improving my grades on exams. I heard about the ASA from a friend living close to my house. So far, my academics in school have improved because I have learned things at the ASA even before they were taught in school. My challenge in school is that I get bullied a lot by older and bigger classmates.

In the past, I have had to study sometimes on an empty stomach and it really made me sad because I could not comprehend what I was reading. Before I started the ASA I usually ate twice every day. The food provided at the ASA makes me feel good and happy and I am in a better position not just food wise but also in my academics.

The ASA has affected my family in a good way because they don’t have to worry about finances to pay for an extra lecture or feeding and clothing which have really cut costs for my family.

My favorite food is rice. I have slept on an empty stomach because my parents did not have money to buy food in the house. Food is important to me. I am happy when I am full and satisfied. At times, my inability to receive a good meal has affected my happiness. There were times I wanted to eat well but food was not available.

My biggest challenge has been that I have not fully and completely grasped my academics like I would love to. My dream is to become a medical doctor to help those in need and who are sick. Playing football really makes me happy whenever I have the opportunity to play. I want to say a big thank you to A2S.
