A Special Call To Prayer

Hey There FaithFuel Community,

This month we are breaking from our typical storytelling to share a special call to prayer for Mrs. Cicilla. Mrs. Cicilla is one of our volunteers at the A2S Youth Center who loves on our kids every day- especially our littles! She and her family have experienced a lot this year, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to rally our prayer warriors around her. I hope you enjoy her story shared by our communications team below.

With Gratitude,

Laura Knight

From the Kindness of Her Heart

Mrs. Cicilla is a special A2S volunteer. She has come to A2S to love on our kids as a member of the community wanting to contribute to the work God is doing here. In the month of September, A2S communication team visited Mrs Cicilla at her home. A little room which she shares with her children. She cheerfully greeted our team with her beautiful smile and immediately made us feel welcome in her home.

Mrs. Cicilla takes care of the young children at the A2S Youth Center and helps them clean up after themselves before going to class. She ensures that the rest rooms are clean and tidy for our children. While we handle other things, she and other volunteers do this and more to ensure the comfort of our children at the After School Academy.

“My name is Cicilla, I am a volunteer at A2S. I am a mother of 3 and I have been taking care of them. I love what A2S is doing for us in the community and I have been volunteering with them ever since”.

Mrs Cicilla understands the story of each child in A2S as she also has had her own share of ups and downs. This fuels her love for the children and the desire to give back in her own little way.

“My husband left me and the children 9 years ago, and life has not been easy for us.  I usually  do minimal jobs to be able to feed my children. I usually wash clothes for people, I was not making enough money, so I started washing toilets and hawking groundnuts (peanuts) to ensure that we have enough to eat”.

“I joined A2S as a volunteer 5 years ago, because I love taking care of children, and I want to be a part of what they are doing,” She shared. Surprisingly, none of her children are part of the A2S program, yet she remains committed to the foundation.

“Ever since I have not had any regret whatsoever. A2S has really tried for me and my children, they gave me bags and clothes to give to my children at the A2S Overly Dignified Giving Center,” she added.

“My mother has a soft spot for children, and she is always happy when she is around them.” Cicilla’s son Lucky told the team, “she bears the burden of taking care of all of us, sometimes she makes very little from hawking.  She has been trying to gather money to start her peanut business but my accident has cost her more than she bargained for.”

“I don’t know how to share my problems with people, I would rather keep them in and pray to God to help me. Anytime I am in the A2S Youth Center I am always filled with joy knowing that everyone that comes in, gets a chance to smile again.”

“A2S has given us a home. Na where person dey happy e dey call house,” It is where you find Joy you call a Home.

Thank you A2S, don’t stop affecting lives, we are hopeful that our children will have a better life than we had because of you. God bless you.

Note: While Mrs. Cicilla’s kids are not a part of A2S programs, her family is supported with food supplies and clothing through our outreach programs throughout the year. We are so grateful for her passion to give back to her community and our kids at the After School Academy.
