1 Out of Every 3 People in Nigeria are Unemployed
And even more are under-employed. Our goal is long-term career success where all individuals are able to shape their own lives. In Nigeria, there is a significant lack of leadership and socioeconomic progress. We remove barriers and provide workforce readiness resources to develop servant leaders who bring about positive change.
Entrepreneur Empowerment Program
Our Entrepreneur Empowerment Program (EEP) guides aspiring entrepreneurs through the planning, funding, implementation, and growth of their businesses. In 2022, we opened the A2S Entrepreneur Hub that houses a collaborative workspace, media room, library, and meeting space. Entrepreneurs have unlimited access to the internet and power supply – two major factors that impact growth and advancement in Nigeria. We lead regular business fundamentals workshops and host networking events to generate community impact.
We also select three ventures at our annual Pitch Competition that are mentored by African and U.S. business leaders to learn practical skills and develop a thoughtful business model. With an approved business plan, these entrepreneurs receive no-interest loans to jump-start their businesses.
Workforce Development Program
There are many challenges that keep people from finding meaningful work. By listening to our community, we learned that people need more preparation to be workforce ready. We have a career guidance counseling team to serve our After School Academy kids and our scholars. We keep our finger on the pulse of employment to understand the in-county and international job opportunities that exist. We host workshops, offer resume-building support, and find internships for our students. We are developing partnerships with other career-focused organizations to ensure our students have access to the jobs they want upon graduation.
