Each year, groups of volunteers join our team in Benin City, Nigeria to witness the day-to-day operations and impact and share gifts and talents that enhance and expand the organization. We immerse ourselves in a new cultural experience, serving one another in unique ways and praying for God to use our energy in ways that serve Him and His people.

Vision Trip or Mission Trip?

We refer to our volunteer trips as Vision Trips rather than Mission Trips because we have a dedicated team of missionaries on the ground in Nigeria who carry out our mission every day of the year. Our staff are God’s hands and feet and their hard work and commitment contribute significantly to the impact we make in the communities we serve. 

The unique purpose of a Vision Trip is to facilitate a beautiful exchange between the US and Nigerian sides of the harvest field to enhance the vision of A2S. Volunteers share their expertise, equipping the Nigerian team with additional skills, knowledge, and perspectives so that they can move our mission forward each day. This collaborative effort ensures that we are not just sustaining but also strengthening our ability to carry out God’s work.

We recommend participants be at least 18 years old. Younger individuals may be considered on a case-by-case basis with parental consent.

Your safety is our top priority. Benin City, Edo State, is in the southern part of Nigeria, which is considered one of the safest parts of the country. Before the trip, we register each trip member on the SMART Traveling website, alerting the U.S. embassy that their citizen is in the country. During the trip, we also have 3-4 police officers with us for added security. We travel everywhere as a group.

Vision Trips provides a platform for participants to share their skills and knowledge. Whether you’re a medical professional, an educator, a business, a corporate executive, or have other expertise, we tailor opportunities for meaningful contributions.

During the Trip, Nigeria will be in its rainy season. It is possible that it will rain the entire time or not at all. The temperatures are typically 67 -78 degrees. We provide participants with climate information and recommend appropriate clothing and gear prior to the trip.

Other than your cell phones, we recommend minimal use of electronics to immerse in the experience. Please be mindful of local voltage differences and power supply variations for whatever electronics you bring.

Every trip is unique and planned with the skills and expertise of the trip members in mind. The specific tasks may vary based on individual skills and the needs of the organization at the time.

The duration of a Vision Trip ranges from 10-14 days.

Yes, volunteers are encouraged to fundraise for their trip expenses. A2S will provide support and resources to help volunteers organize successful fundraising campaigns.

Please submit this interest form to be added to our interest meeting list. Following the meeting, you will receive the trip application. The application process involves submitting a form, detailing relevant skills and experiences, and sharing specific areas of contribution.
