The “Divine” Story

Meet Divine, an A2S After School Academy kid!

And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”

-Daniel 12:3

Even in the darkest of nights, our skies can still be lit up with the brightest of stars. Divine is undoubtedly a star in his family and paves a promising path for his siblings Rejoice and Testimony to follow. Our prayer at the After School Academy is that God, that started the good work in him, keeps him in it to influence the world around him.

Our ten-year-old star is a class five student of one of the public schools in his community. He is also the first of three children and lives with his parents one block away from the After School Academy. This makes it easy for him to stop by in time for a hot meal and fun learning activities with his friends and mentor, Mr. Oduwa, A2S Creative Coordinator. Friday is his favorite day because it’s sports day. For Divine, exercise is pure bliss. His biggest dream is to be a sportsman. He also looks forward to leading the workout session soon.

2021 was an excellent year for Divine and his family. He was awarded an ambassadorial position in his school for his outstanding stewardship and exemplary character. He was also acknowledged as the most respectful student by his teacher. This year, his goal is to come out in flying colors and make his parents proud. He loves his current teacher and friends in school. Divine would love to attend a better private school as he progresses because he wants to learn more and improve in practical subjects like prevocational studies and creative arts. Divine would like his siblings to become great in the future, too. He prays for God’s blessing on his parents daily so that his mother’s foodstuff store would be stocked for more customers and for his father to be able to buy his personal bus for his intra-city transportation business.

Divine loves when his family prays and eats together; his father is always fond of buying his siblings treats on his way from work. Also, every Tuesday, he is happy he gets to return home with his mother after she helps with cleaning the After School Academy. She is a strong woman, and he is so proud of her!

In the future, Divine would love to take care of his parents and siblings by sending them on vacations abroad from time to time. He would like to take an electrical engineering course to help with his community’s unstable electricity problems. He is keeping busy and using his skills to fix his father’s faulty torch at home.

If Divine had a wish, it would be to grow as tall as Mr. Andrew Lovedale so he can jump high for the hoop. He also wants to have big feet to wear those nice NBA shoes–especially those signed ones. Divine also looks forward to attending the A2S Basketball and Empowerment Camp at twelve years old.

Divine is aware that God is the executor of all good and powerful dreams; he had read it in the Bible when Joseph’s vision came to pass, so we trust God with him to realize all his divine heartfelt dreams.
