Victoria’s Compassion for Others
If Victoria could change the world, it would be by putting the best effort into everything we do so the world can be a better place.
This 11-year-old girl is currently enrolled in basic school. She works hard in school and enjoys English courses since her teachers are supportive at school and the After School Academy. Math is a difficult subject. However, she is not giving up; instead, she is working hard to improve. She prays every day for God to give her a retentive memory so she can remember everything she is taught.
Victoria lives with her parents and two younger brothers, Emmanuel and Marvellous. Her father, Mr. Jonathan, manages an electronic repair shop, and her mother, Mrs. Esther, sells seasonal foods. As the first child, Victoria is very supportive of her parents. She prays that God blesses her father to be able to build his own house and shop to reduce his rent burden and that God blesses her mother so that she can find a more steady and suitable business. Though her brothers do not attend the After School Academy, she enjoys teaching them interesting ideas she learns at the academy. She is very close to her mother and looks up to her because, in her words, “my mom is very hardworking; if customers do not come to her stand to buy things, she hawks the items around the neighborhood and gets people to buy.” She also lends her a hand around the house by doing chores such as washing dishes, sweeping, and playing with her siblings. She looks forward to her mother’s morning prayers and dinnertime with her father, who is at work for most of the day.
One of the reasons Victoria’s parents, siblings, and friends adore her is her soft and compassionate attitude. She lavishes them with love and care, and she never turns down an opportunity to provide a helping hand. She also enjoys asking for God’s wisdom to be bestowed upon her younger brothers.
Learning is her favorite activity at the After School Academy, and she is looking forward to the forthcoming Vacation Bible School. She loves being tutored because it is always enjoyable and full of affection. She thanks the A2S foundation for creating a safe environment in which she could enhance her self-esteem and academic performance. Victoria now lives in a location where access to safe drinking water and reliable electricity is a daily challenge. She hopes that one day, her family and all of their neighbors will be able to access safe flowing water. Her greatest ambition is to train as a nurse and apply what she learns to care for her family and the sick people in the community. She’s quite talented!
Aunty Grace, her class teacher at the Academy, has a big influence on her since she is a diligent worker who pushes her to concentrate on her academics.
Victoria spends her free time playing guessing games with her best friend Isi and reading and exchanging storybooks. Victoria is a big believer in prayer, so her favorite Bible passage is 1 Thessalonians 5:1: “Pray without ceasing.” She fantasizes about how she will appear when she is fully grown. We pray that Victoria and her family will receive all of God’s blessings in due time. Amen.
Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
