Meet Wesley!
For our first FaithFuel story of 2024, we’re getting to know Wesley, a vivacious 6-year-old in second grade at the A2S After School Academy. Despite his age, he’s got a passion for electrical engineering, and the confidence to back it up! His parents, Osagale and Success, share his dreams of watching him construct innovative things in the field, and have tried to provide every opportunity possible for him and his three siblings: Presley, Flourish, and Gold. Wesley would like to ask you for prayers of wisdom, guidance, and academic excellence— and also that he might grow up to be as tall as Andrew Lovedale.
He has an aptitude for schooling and particularly enjoys Mathematics. Wesley prides himself on his excellent grades, only admitting to needing help with his Computer Technology course now and then. Wesley’s aspirations are paired with a deep desire to contribute to his community. He envisions addressing critical issues like power shortages and security concerns, bringing transformation in his neighborhood.
The nurturing environment of the After School Academy offers Wesley a platform to explore his passions. He has a particular fondness for the Rutledge Johnson Library at the A2S Youth Center, where his friend Chisome often joins him in reading.
In his family, morning devotion holds a special place. Coming together as a family to learn about their Heavenly father and His interest in their lives has brought their family unity and bonding. Wesley has a remarkably developed sense of responsibility and dedication for one his age, but this is not an uncommon trait in Nigerian youth. Like many of his peers, he looks towards the future with hopeful eyes, seeking to become a source of stability and positive change for his family. His admiration for his father as a role model drives him to aim for excellence.
Wesley’s aspirations and genuine enthusiasm for learning shine through in his prayerful hope for a brighter future, not just for himself, but also for his community. Wesley’s story is one of hope and inspiration, one that we hope marks the beginning of a promising journey toward an electrifying future in engineering.
Your 2023 Impact |
Dear FaithFuel Community, We are blown away by the love and consistency you provided for our children and youth in 2023! With the growth we experienced this past year, we were able to admit an additional 10 children to the After School Academy. We now serve 250 children like Wesley each day in Nigeria. As a community, FaithFuel is now providing the funds necessary to sustain 246 of our students at the After School Academy (and not to worry- the other 4 are covered through our general fund for now!). As this community continues to grow, we will continue to add children to our program until we reach our Youth Center’s capacity of 300 students. I am personally so grateful for the ways you sustain our children through your giving and prayers. This program is so important to ensuring our children receive the care and education they need each day. We have some exciting plans for 2024 and I cannot wait to share more updates with you as this program and A2S continues to evolve. From the bottom of our hearts here at A2S, thank you! I pray that each of you have a prosperous start to this new year. Thank you again for sharing smiles, inspiring hope, and empowering dreams through FaithFuel. With Gratitude, Laura Knight A2S Development Manager |
