My Dearest FaithFuel Family,
The A2S community continues to be blessed by your prayers and generosity, and it is clear that hope has taken root in the lives of hundreds and thousands of people across Benin City. One such life that has been transformed by your support is a young woman whose resilience shines through everything she does. She is a woman of grace, intellect and strength– what I fondly describe as beauty with brains.
Meet Adaora.
Born on the 16th of April, Adaora is a final-year student at the University of Benin in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science. Her father, once a transport worker and business owner, lost his business during her childhood, leaving her mother – a trader– with the heavy responsibility of sustaining their family of six.
“Growing up, my dad owned tippers and had drivers working for him. But over time, the business crashed, and he began doing different things to make ends meet. Now, my mum, who is a trader, is the one supporting and taking care of all of us.”

Gaining admission into the university was both a blessing and a burden. While it marked the beginning of a dream, it also deepened the financial strain on her family. To survive, Adaora began working part-time.
“When I got into the university, two of my siblings also gained admission. The school fees were a lot, and my mum had so much on her shoulders. I had to move in with my grandmother. Life was still tough, so I got a job as a salesgirl in a wine shop. I juggled managing my schoolwork, caring for my grandma and working. I would trek from home to the shop, from the shop to school, and then back home every day.”
When her mother came to visit and saw what her daughter’s daily routine looked like, she was moved to tears.
“My mum came to visit me and cried when she saw the distance I walked every day. Working and studying was never easy. I had to clean my grandma up before leaving the house. The farm produce from her small farm could barely sustain us, so quitting my job was not an option.”

Then, in the middle of her struggles, God provided a solution.
“One day, I came across a flyer on our class platform. My coursemates, who were already in the A2S program, encouraged me to apply for the scholarship. My mum also pushed me to go for it. Getting this scholarship was nothing short of a miracle.”
That miracle changed everything.
“I no longer had to work part-time. I had more time for my academics. My mum was overjoyed, and she told everyone who cared to listen. Her joy was unmatched.”
The A2S support didn’t just touch Adaora’s life – it transformed her entire family.
“It was beyond a scholarship; A2S brought relief to my whole family. My siblings shared my food items with me, and my mum would divide the stipend I got among all of us. The impact touched every one of us.”

Empowered by A2S workshops and the Workforce Development Program, Adaora didn’t stop there. She used what she learned to start her own small business.
“Since joining A2S, life has become easier. I now run a jewelry and perfume business. I can now speak confidently about my business and connect with people better. The workshops helped me grow, and I’m still learning how to improve and expand.”
When the internship program “Project RISE” began, Adaora eagerly joined, taking advantage of this opportunity to embrace a new level of growth.
“When I first heard about Project RISE, I was excited. I knew it would give me an edge over my peers who didn’t have internship opportunities. I’ve taught in schools before, but this workplace experience feels different. I get to work remotely from my hostel, using a laptop and several digital tools. For me, it’s a clear path to growth.”
Behind her calm presence, Adaora carries a vibrant personality that reveals itself when you listen closely.
“I love to talk,” she laughed. “My mum used to scold me for talking too much. But the Workforce Program gave me the confidence to express myself and share ideas in a more professional manner. It has shaped how I make decisions and how I run my business.”
The A2S Workforce Development Program runs quarterly to equip our scholars with real-world skills. In a world where opportunities may be scarce, preparation is the bridge to possibility. Through your generosity, we are raising a generation of leaders—equipped with knowledge, values, and confidence to step boldly into their God-given purpose.
