Every child at A2S carries a unique spark—something that makes them shine. We count it a privilege to help them discover and nurture that spark.

The children who walk through our doors embody resilience and brilliance, despite the challenges of their backgrounds. Our mission is to provide programs and platforms that bring sustainable change to their lives. One such child is Favour.

Favour joined the After School Academy in 2018 at just three years old. A year later, her two siblings also joined. Her parents, both farmers, have always tried their best to give their children opportunities, and they see A2S as a huge part of that journey.

Favour’s father, Mr. Stanley, recalls how he first heard about A2S:

“About 10 years ago, we first discovered A2S when the Foundation was still at their former location. We saw how the Foundation supported parents like us. The supplies we received for free brought us relief—it made it easier to focus on other areas of our children’s needs.”

Her mother, Mrs. Amezw, also shares how A2S has helped:

“The organization has been a blessing, especially in the area of education. Favour was doing her best, but with the foundation’s support, she has greatly improved—and it clearly reflects in her performance at school.”

Now 11-years-old, Favour is known for her gift of storytelling. She enjoys writing stories and sharing them with her friends. She recalls a memorable challenge she faced during a storytelling camp organized by the Foundation:

“It was tough leading my team at first. Everyone wanted their stories to be heard, and we struggled to work together. Thankfully, we were taught about teamwork and listening. I began listening to everyone, then found a way to combine all the stories. That moment taught me a lot.”

Her older brother, Hope, also appreciates the academy:

“The academy is a place where you meet people who support you and guide you toward your dreams. Uncle Funmi, the A2S Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Program Manager, made a big impression on me. He once spoke to me about my career, and those little talks helped align me to my path.”

Favour’s talents don’t end with storytelling. She is also a passionate ballerina—an art she discovered through the academy’s yearly Talent Delve event.

“Aunty Peculiar, the A2S Scholarship Coordinator, came to my class to talk about ballet and asked those interested to sign up. I did—and it felt like I found a missing part of myself. Ballet completes me.”

Those closest to her describe Favour as different from her siblings—thoughtful, deliberate, and intentional in everything she does. Her mother affirms this:

“Favour has really improved; she’s more expressive now. The Founder’s words of encouragement to us parents have helped me understand my children better. I no longer discipline them as harshly—instead, I encourage them, just as the Founder advised.”

At A2S, we do our best to provide the resources that guide children like Favour toward their career paths. Yet, time and again, we are inspired by their stories of growth, resilience, and discovery. These stories reaffirm our commitment to sustainable change—not just in the lives of the children we serve, but also in the life of their community.

With so much love in my heart,
