My dearest FaithFuel community,
It brings me great joy to constantly send you stories of the kids we have been called to serve. Your prayers have continued to inspire and encourage us all as we serve one another in our programs and ministries.
This month, I bring you the story of one of our scholars, Perfect. Against all odds, he considers himself as a boy who found luck despite a rocky start to his journey.
Perfect, a final-year student of Medical Laboratory Science at the University of Benin, is the youngest of five children. He was born in 2003 to Mr. Daniel and Mrs. Stella, and he describes his personal journey as “God showing up in the most unsuspecting ways.” Perfect’s father worked at the University Teaching Hospital, and his mother was a schoolteacher whose income was often unstable.
In 2005, Perfect’s father retired. Not long after, his parents separated while Perfect was still very young. This left Perfect in a position where he was forced to learn how to navigate elementary school largely on his own. During secondary school, he moved in with his older brother and began having to care for himself—a phase he refers to as the beginning of adulthood.
Fortunately, God gifted Perfect with strong academic abilities, so he used these gifts to earn money by tutoring and teaching others. He was able to earn just enough to get by during his time in high school; but shortly thereafter, he entered university and was no longer able to juggle teaching jobs while studying.
Determined to make ends meet, he decided to launch a small Point-of-Sale (POS) business, helping fellow students access cash during a time of scarcity on campus. The income helped substantially but it was not quite enough to fully cover his expenses. However, this small business was the first step toward his journey with Access to Success. During this time, while assisting a fellow student, the student told Perfect about the scholarship program and how to get in touch with A2S.

“When I first received my scholarship funds, I felt excitement within me. My heart danced at the sound of the credit alert—the money went a long way. I started sorting my bills immediately,” Perfect shared joyfully.
Since joining the program, Perfect has experienced remarkable personal growth.
“While the money helped solve immediate needs, the true value of the scholarship lies in the mentorship and opportunities offered through the Workforce Development Workshops. These sessions are rooms full of opportunities—exposure, networking, and relationship-building,” he added.
Being around so many successful individuals is fuel for inspiration and determination for Perfect. Rather than be discouraged, he uses the success of others to push himself toward achievement and to strengthen his resolve to always study harder and overcome limitations. This determination is why we fully anticipate that Perfect’s journey is merely in its infancy stage. We believe Perfect is positioned to do great things with his unusual intelligence, drive, and hard work.
His progress is a testament that our programs and platforms prepare our scholars well for the workforce and for the future. By Gods’ provision and your support, Perfect is a shining example of why we believe we’re on the right path.
Thank you for always praying for us and providing a shoulder to lean on.
With Love,
Omotayo Oluwashola
