Meet Anita, one studious After School Academy kid

If Anita could speak to the entire world, she would urge them to put their hope in God because He is the one who sees all of our heart desires and brings them to pass.

Itohan, “God’s mercy,” corresponds with our beloved Anita Itohan’s belief that all of God’s children should have complete faith in Him. This 13-year-old girl is in Junior Class 3. Her five siblings are Vera, Franklin, Oghogho, Precious, and Prosper. They all live with Mr. Robert and Mrs. Juliana, their parents. Anita’s mother works in a printing press while her father drives a taxi. Discussing the day’s events every evening is their favorite family pastime. Her dad’s stories are the funniest because he travels frequently and gets to interact with a wide range of individuals. Anita enjoys studying math, and with the help of her teacher at the After School Academy, she has been able to answer challenging problems from her textbooks.

Anita enjoys math a lot since she aspires to be a top-tier accountant. She finds English a little difficult, but she is eager to learn more about it even though her school does not have the necessary resources or tools to teach the subject. This challenge is one of the many reasons Anita appreciates attending the A2S After School Academy for many reasons. Learning at the After School Academy has improved her academic performance. She was so happy when she emerged as the best in Mathematics and General Studies and took the overall first position in her class at the 2022 After School Academy Award Giving Ceremony.

She receives support from the academy to improve her academic performance and advice on how to put what she learns into practice at home. She offers daily prayers for all A2S donors whose contributions create rare opportunities and quality education that help keep the light of hope alive in her community.

Anita and her family live in an area prone to frequent rain. On these days, her father is unable to go to work and Anita cannot play outside with her friends. The roads around their home flood easily and make travel difficult. She makes time to pray for a better security system for the nation so its people can live peacefully and without unwarranted worry. Anita adds that when she is older and has a lot of money, she would like to move to a place with better living conditions and less flooding risk. She also says she would like to help her community by impacting and improving the lives of children there, much like A2S has done for her family. She is committed to her studies for all these reasons so that she can apply for the A2S Scholarship Program and further her studies. She plans to get a master’s degree in accounting.

Anita helps her mother around the house with various chores like sweeping, washing the dishes, and teaching her siblings their assignments. Her role model is Father Abraham from the Bible, who was referred to as God’s friend because he trusted in God above everything else, including his priceless son Isaac. Her favorite color is purple because it is rare and symbolizes royalty. Anita spends her free time reading books and identifying challenging words. Her favorite area of the After School Academy is the library since it is well-stocked with many books, including textbooks and novels. She appreciates that Access to Success, in addition to caring about their academic well-being, helps kids learn more about how their bodies and minds develop. Anita enjoys Fridays at the academy because they are reserved for extracurricular activities like sports and club activities. She says participating in sports makes her feel energized and healthy, and being a part of the singing club helps her develop her self-confidence.

The book of Proverbs is her favorite Bible book since it offers guidance for everyone. Anita’s favorite Bible verse is in Proverbs Chapter 16, verse 1: “To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue.” If Anita could speak to the entire world, she would urge them to put their hope in God because He is the one who sees all of our heart desires and brings them to pass.

Your monthly giving and prayers through FaithFuel help Anita and so many others like her accomplish their dreams at Access to Success. Thank you!
