A Place to Grow Academically & Spiritually

A2S kid Marvellous is a 15-year-old brilliant girl whose life is a testament to courage and resilience. Born in 2010, Marvellous faced immense challenges, losing her father at a young age. Her mother, Mrs. Evelyn, struggles after her husband’s death, leaving only Marvellous in her care. To survive, she volunteered with Access to Success. This step led her to become the Foundation’s head chef, a role she still holds today.

Marvellous reflects on the pivotal role Access to Success played in her life:

“Access to Success has been a great pillar in my life. They gave me the opportunity to dream and actually bring those dreams into reality. They showed me what it feels like to be with family.”

Growing up shy and feeling like a “lone ranger,” Marvellous found a place where her curiosity could thrive. Access to Success helped her build strong relationships and provided clarity by answering her endless questions. Her love for the Bible, especially the book of Psalms, has become her anchor.

“Access to Success taught me to love God. I’ve grown so fond of the book of Psalms. I love God, and every time I draw from scripture, I use it to the fullest.”

For Marvellous, the Youth Center is more than a place; it is a lifeline.

“Every day at the Youth Center is fun for me because I’ve found a space that carries everything I long for: a library to do my assignments, a mentor who listens, a place where my voice is heard. I have more friends, I pray with people, and I’m surrounded by a community that loves me.”

About our End-of-Year Series

Going Above & Beyond: Hope & Dignity for Every Child

For 15 years, Access to Success has touched the lives of young people and entire communities across Benin City. Through your support, we’ve gone far beyond supplying food, materials, and school essentials. Instead, we take a whole-person, holistic approach. We’ve stepped into the emotional, spiritual, and academic journeys of young people, walking with them hand-in-hand each day through our After School Academy.

Through our End-of-the-Year series, we hope to share a glimpse into the lives of these remarkable kids with whom we walk alongside as they grow and develop. Stay tuned for amazing stories to come!
