A2S Opportunity Wellness and Advancement (OWA) Center
We are making space to bridge the gaps that exist in traditional Nigerian education. We are making space for on-the-job learning experiences. We are making space to grow healthy bodies and learn from competition and teamwork. We are making space to explore, create, and see possibilities.
We are making space for youth in Nigeria to become leaders that will change the world.
$2.5 Million

Welcome Home
Owa means “home” in the local Bini language spoken by many of our A2S youth and staff. As we brainstormed the plans for the next phase of growth, our Nigerian team wanted to showcase that A2S is a home for so many in the community. The OWA Center (which also stands for Opportunity, Wellness, and Advancement) will serve as a hub for A2S’s career development and athletic programs and bring all of our programs to one central location.

Did You Know?
70% of the people in Nigeria are under 30 years old, and the population is rising at a rate that will make it one of the 3 most populous countries in the world by 2050. The potential is great for what these bright young minds can do in Nigeria and across the globe.

A Space to Create Lasting Change
Athletic Programs
The OWA Center will be home to one main court and two side courts in the main dome of the building. We will host our annual Basketball and Empowerment Camps in this space and expand our athletic programming to offer physical education classes and camps on a more frequent basis. We are also exploring the opportunity to generate revenue through paid athletic programs for the outside community.
A2S Smart Hub
The SMART Hub will be a space where our youth and university scholars can learn and earn at the same time through short-term, real-world projects. SMART Hub students can develop their resumes, network with the local business community, build relationships outside Nigeria, and provide income for their families in a way that is productive and allows them to continue their education.
Wellness Center
At the Wellness Center, students can explore their spiritual and mental health needs with a variety of peaceful and safe environments to reflect. We also recognize the immense amount of stress and grief experienced by our community, and want to provide a space to help community members and families process.
