Gift has pledged to give her very best in everything she does. She believes that everyone’s life is linked, and everything we do creates a ripple effect. Like her role model, Andrew Lovedale, Gift wants to be just that to her generation, and she would be willing to give her last penny to help one in need. Helping others has been a passion of hers since her early childhood days at the After School Academy.
Gift is happy with how the Academy is growing and as a Faithfuel child, she understands the value of prayers. She prays for our donors, with all of her heart, so that more children can have access to sustainable education, as well as successful and dignified lives.
Academic Excellence is our aim at the After School Academy. Fourteen year old Gift enjoys reading and excels in literature. She recently received an award for “Overall Best Student in Mathematics” at the Academy, and she is not relenting. She is grateful to her A2S After School Academy teachers for helping her peers along in class and for giving her instructional materials unlike what she gets at school.
In an effort to achieve academic excellence, reading classes have been incorporated into our core curriculum. The kids love it because every child has access to a library full of interesting books . Her favorite books to read are inspirational literature, and her favorite writer is Oliver Goldsmith, author of “She Stoops to Conquer”. Gift is also fond of exchanging inspirational novels with her best friend, Miriam.
Gift is active. Her biggest dream is to work in Mass Communications. She is an active member of the A2S kids news crew, as well as the literary and debating club at the Academy, where she is improving her communication skills and gaining a lot of experience in areas such as journalism. She prays that as she continues to learn and practice, she will be able to fulfill her dream of hosting her own show and writing beautiful stories.
Gift is growing wiser. She recently got promoted to a new class in school and will soon be writing her entrance exams to attend university. When faced with choosing a career, she was torn between studying Theatre Arts or Communications, however after discussing the issue with her A2S Mentor, Uncle Funmi, she was able to make a wise, informed decision. She is grateful for the positive mentoring she is receiving at the Academy, so that she can concentrate on acing her grades.
Eyes have not seen nor ears heard the wonders that God is set to perform in the life of our Gift, and it is a privilege to walk alongside her as she pursues her dreams.
We believe children should love to learn. Every day, 250 youth swarm the A2S After School Academy, excited to have a safe, engaging place to go after school. We tutor. We play sports. We make music. We mentor. We explore technology. We celebrate the children’s imagination and encourage creative thinking. Our goal is to keep children in school and help them move from one grade level to another.
To help children like Gift continue to grow and learn in an environment that cares for the whole child, consider a tax deductible donation to our end of year campaign, My Dream Project.
